In order to ensure the long-term survival of the Cranston Library, substantial sums are spent each year restoring and conserving the books in our collection. This is highly skilled work, for which we employ a professional conservator (Cowlishaw Bookbinding), and is the main responsibility of the trustees.
We are very grateful for the financial assistance we receive from many sources, including the Girdlers’ Company, Surrey County Council, and those supporters who make donations to the library each year. If you are interested in sponsoring the conservation work on a specific volume, for which your support would be acknowledged in a bookplate, please contact the trustees to discuss the possibilities.
The Cranston Library is a registered charity (No. 237990) and is therefore able to reclaim the tax on most donations, thus increasing the value of donations by 25%. If you would like to support the Cranston Library and you are a UK taxpayer, please consider making a donation under the Gift Aid Scheme.
